Currently, 18 University teams in 12 sports are training in the sports club's sports improvement section. The team draws inspiration from teachers - the founders of the sports movement.

More than 1000 students and teachers are engaged in sports in the University's sports club annually. During this period, it was possible to increase the efficiency of educational and training processes, shift the emphasis from managing students by methods and forms of physical education to increasing forms of elective sports and physical education self-government of students. As the main incentive motivation of students to engage in physical exercises, the Department and Sports Club of the O. M. Beketov NUUEKh use a three-pronged strategy - improving personal health, improving psychophysiological physical training and improving personal sports results. This strategy is implemented in the directions of expanding the diversity of groups of elective sports orientation, sports of higher achievements and wide sports information (newspapers, television, Internet). At this time, each student of the sports improvement department is a participant in the Universiade of the O. M. Beketov NUUEKh between study groups and faculties in several sports: athletics and cross country, armwrestling, futsal, volleyball, basketball, chess and checkers, table tennis and competitions in test standards. The Sports Club provides sports training for students of all faculties in elective groups: chess, aerobics, athletic gymnastics and martial arts. These elements of organizational, pedagogical, educational and methodological work contribute to the formation of a stable interest of student youth in regular physical education classes, strengthening sports motivation and increasing sports performance.

Over the past years, the University has undergone an update of the forms, methods and means of sports and physical education, which affects the processes of sports life and education of students. Registered non-Olympic sports: armwrestling, taekwondo, kickboxing, karate, futsal and many others. The Sports Club preserves the traditions of the sports past of the state and the University, and continues under the effective ideology that was formed and carried out by the leadership of the O. M. Beketov NUUEKh: «We must do everything better than others. We are all rowers of the same boat in the turbulent current of the river of knowledge. As soon as we stop working synchronously, we will be carried back». This thesis is an organizational and substantive part of the concept of the quality of work of the Sports Club and the Department of Physical Education and Sports, motivates innovative changes and increases the efficiency of educational and training processes, which are provided by the professionally trained scientific and pedagogical staff of the Department.
